False Miracle Workers
I have been noticing a rise in what people refer to as street magicians, and they seem to perform miraculous feats
and leave the crowds who have witnessed their so called trick in great amazement and astonishment. People like David Blaine
and Criss Angel (Mind freak), are going to the streets and doing things that actually do defy the natural laws of the known
universe. They can levitate themselves, someone else, or objects completely off the ground at will (I have seen them rise
up to 8 feet), they can read minds or project thoughts into other peoples minds, they can move or break things supposedly
with their mind, they can teleport objects, reanimate small creatures, or transfer pain through a voodoo like doll. This is
not like a Las Vegas magic show, and these are not mere parlor tricks or stage illusions, this is the real thing and it has
everyone buzzing about this new great power emerging in public view.
Although there is a legitimate power at work, it is not the power of God, it is the power of evil spirits working
false miraculous signs just before the real outpouring of God hits the streets. These so called magicians (actually sorcerers)
will continue to compete with each other and do greater and greater feats and it will draw many people into their deception.
This is the definition for sorcery- "The use of supernatural power over others through the assistance of spirits; witchcraft".
Just like a psychic uses a spirit guide to assist them in communicating with disembodied spirits, so these sorcerers have
evil spirits that assist them in accomplishing these supernatural tricks. This phenomena has happened before though when God
first took His power to the streets in the book of Acts, but this will be on a much larger scale this time;
AC 8:9 Now for some time a man named Simon had practiced sorcery in the city and amazed all the people
of Samaria. He boasted that he was someone great, 10 and all the people, both high and low, gave him their attention and exclaimed,
"This man is the divine power known as the Great Power." 11 They followed him because he had amazed them for a long time
with his magic.
AC 8:18 When Simon saw that the Spirit was given at the laying on of the apostles' hands, he offered
them money 19 and said, "Give me also this ability so that everyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit."
AC 8:20 Peter answered: "May your money perish with you, because you thought you could buy
the gift of God with money! 21 You have no part or share in this ministry, because your heart is not right before God. 22
Repent of this wickedness and pray to the Lord. Perhaps he will forgive you for having such a thought in your heart. 23 For
I see that you are full of bitterness and captive to sin." (A common characteristic
of these street sorcerer's, just look into their eyes).
Or, evil spirits may sometimes try to distract;
AC 16:16 Once when we were going to the place of prayer, we were met by a slave girl who had a spirit by which
she predicted the future. She earned a great deal of money for her owners by fortune-telling. 17 This girl followed Paul and
the rest of us, shouting, "These men are servants of the Most High God, who are telling you the way to be saved." (This is an evil spirit of divination pretending to be a prophetess) 18 She
kept this up for many days. Finally Paul became so troubled that he turned around and said to the spirit, "In the name of
Jesus Christ I command you to come out of her!" At that moment the spirit left her.
The primary goal of a street sorcerer is power, attention, and self-glory, and they will stop at nothing to a achieve
success. They lure innocent people (including children) into their trap and bring defilement and demons into their innocent
lives. They will look the victim right in the eye during the trick, or employ hypnotism to accomplish the levitation of others.
Soon I think you will even see them miraculously healing people on the streets. Usually, satan tries to display the counterfeit
just before the genuine arrives on the scene and this is no different. But God will send His power to the streets that will
far surpass anything the devil can conjure up. There will also be a clash between many of the empowered Christians, and these
demonized sorcerers, but as usual, God will win out in the end as He always does. But we must stand firm though.
EX 7:10 So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and did just as the LORD commanded. Aaron threw his staff down in front
of Pharaoh and his officials, and it became a snake. 11 Pharaoh then summoned wise men and sorcerers, and the Egyptian magicians
also did the same things by their secret arts: 12 Each one threw down his staff and it became a snake. But Aaron's staff swallowed
up their staffs. 13 Yet Pharaoh's heart became hard and he would not listen to them, just as the LORD had said.
These false miracles are merely a distraction to try to discredit the outpouring of the Holy Spirit and we must
be careful to keep our focus on bringing in the harvest rather than giving regard to satan's false miracles. We live in the
most exciting and wonderful time in history, but we also live in the most spiritually volatile time in history where we must
all be ready to go to battle. This will no longer be a situation where we can hide within church walls and peek out the curtains
at a perishing world. This is an honest to goodness war and it will get messy at times. But we must remember that we are already
on the winning side and that we have all the spiritual assistance that we need simply by praying. Jesus is our Captain of
Battle and He will be faithful to give direction to His troops who are listening and who do not give in to fear. This is our
day to bring in the harvest, and to conquer all evil strongholds in the name of Jesus Christ.
JOS 1:6 "Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their forefathers
to give them. 7 Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from
it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. 8 Do not let this Book of the Law depart from
your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous
and successful. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the
LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."
