Minding Our Mouth

ECC 5:3 As a dream comes when there are many cares, so the speech of a fool when there are many words.

I just want to share a truth with you that may help to decrease your spiritual warfare. Learn to be more careful about what you talk about because God is not the only one listening. There are evil spirits that hang out just to get as much information and divine dirt on you as they can, so it helps to not talk about certain things unless you really need to. If a demon doesn't know your plans, then it will be harder to sabotage them. You may notice in the gospels that Jesus always chose His words very carefully and somehow I don't think that He was a chatty kind of guy. I think that He was well aware that there were many unseen demonic beings listening for God's latest intelligence on Him. The same is no different for us and although God is omniscient and omnipresent and can read our thoughts, Satan cannot. So Satan has to resort to using demonic spies to listen in on what we are saying, and then feed that information back to Him.

JUDE 1:20 But you, dear friends, build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit.

God has not left us powerless over this situation, and we don't have to be afraid to talk about what God is doing in our life. But it does help to be a bit more careful about talking about certain types of things that are really meant to remain just between us and God. We tend to want to tell everyone everything that God is telling us because we want to help people, and also sometimes it can make us feel more worthful. God has also given us the gift of tongues to pray with that I do not believe that demons can understand. Another thing that can help is to not use profanity because this is another tactic of demons to try to use our words against us. Demons will try to get people to fight and swear, and then try to blow our witness by stationing someone nearby to hear it. And when we learn to be more discreet with our words then the enemy cannot attack us so easily. So if you want more peace in your life, be careful with your words.

JAS 1:19 My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.
