Angels and Demons
I just wanted to talk a little bit about the spirit realm, and how it may affect us in the Wilderness. You see,
even though we live in a physical world that is seen and touched, there are other things that influence us that we should
be aware of, and know how to deal with should we encounter them. Many fights, and episodes of selfishness that occur during
the Wilderness, are inspired by evil spirits finding a foothold in our unhealed souls.
There are usually three types of spirits that co-exist with humans in the earth today according to the Bible; Angels
and the Holy Spirit which serve God, and evil spirits that serve satan. Angels protect humans and bring messages from God
to them. Evil spirits try to tempt man to disobey God, and will try to harm humans if given the chance through a humans sin,
others sin, unforgiveness, or unwillingness to do what's right.
Angels are good, and will always acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of the world. They are not to be prayed
to, but are rather our fellow brethren in the Kingdom of God. Angels protect what belongs to God and God's interests. Chances
are, you have been saved out of trouble more than once, by one or more of these Heavenly helpers. They are automatically dispatched
when we pray and ask for God's help, or when God knows we're going to need it. Some are Angels assigned to individuals, or
areas.
Evil spirits were once regular angels, but lost their place through rebellion, and a war in Heaven. They are only
allowed to remain on Earth to test man, whether he will obey or disobey God when tempted. They usually have a particular nature
that will try to influence you in that manner. A spirit of greed emits greed, a spirit of lust emits lust, a spirit of strife
only emits strife, but they do work together to accomplish the same end. All evil spirits (including satan) will be locked
up during the soon coming Millennial Kingdom.
Evil spirits can only work through sin. They only have power if a human cooperates with whatever temptation they
are throwing at them. They can be resisted effectively, and told to leave you alone in the name of Jesus Christ, and they
must obey. Like the Bible sais, "Resist the Devil, and he will flee from you". They can get a stronghold through repeated
cooperation from a human to sin, but lose their power when consistently refused. It's like feeding a monster, it grows; but
when starved out, it eventually shrivels up and dies.
You should ask God for His help through His Holy Spirit, and His Angels when you feel under attack. Now I don't
see a demon behind every tree, and sometimes people blame spirits when it is just their own disobedient behavior causing the
problem. Sin brings its own consequences and problems, when given into repeatedly. Like the Bible sais, "The curse causeless,
will not come". But remember, we are all a work in progress, and God is the Author and Finisher of your faith. He just needs
your daily cooperation to change you. It's a progressive work that He does, as we listen and obey. You can't do it alone.
During the Wilderness, the Holy Spirit will educate you about the spirit realm, and He will also help you to destroy
any "landing strips" these foul entities may find in you to make a landing. satan works hard when we are children to build
avenues of access into our hearts through abuse, neglect, and sin. In time, God will make stepping stones from your old stumbling
blocks. And always remember, love never fails, no matter what attack comes, just get alone somewhere or with someone else
and pray, bind up the evil spirits in Jesus name, show love and kindness, and it will diffuse your end of the problem.
When the Holy Spirit prompts you, let Him take you back and forgive all who have hurt or harmed you. Bomb those
old landing strips with forgiveness and love, and be rid of them for good. It's kind of like fire, it needs several things
to burn (heat, oxygen, and fuel) and evil spirits need sin, unforgiveness, and disobedience to live. In time, you will see
that you really have power over all evil because of the authority of Jesus granted to you as His servant. He will show you
all you need to know about the spirit realm and how to operate in it safely and effectively. Remember, the Book already says
we win.
