We Must Change Or Die Off

JER 7:3 This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Reform your ways and your actions, and I will let you live in this place.

Sometimes in our lives and ministries we become just like the Pharisees in Jesus' day where we follow a certain pattern and a set of rules that progressively nullify God's real-time ability to lead and direct our lives and ministries. We start becoming self-assured, and self-important, and we do things without seeking God and things slowly get off course and start dying because we yanked ourselves too far away from the ministry life-giving tree Jesus.

JAS 3:16 For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.

Self-will and doing things only by the ministry numbers is like spiritual carbon monoxide because it slowly starts poisoning our hearts and ministries while we sit unaware until we become so weak and weary that we slowly start passing out and fainting because there is no spiritual oxygen left to breathe. When this happens we must rouse ourselves and shake each other until we get up and run out the door together into fresh air and new spiritual life.

REV 3:19 Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest, and repent.

We must become willing to allow God to completely dismantle our lives and ministries to the ground if necessary and start over. We need to get away from busy work for a while and just seek God while He brings new light into what needs to change in us. We must repent of all sin truly and permanently, and we must seek to be empowered by the Holy Spirit in order to heal the sick, cast out evil spirits, and go preach the gospel right where the sinners live.

MT 3:8 Produce fruit in keeping with repentance.

God will allow us to keep building under an old outdated ministry template if we fight Him on it long enough, and keep calling it all the devil. But if we will not change what God wants to change in our ministries make no mistake, they will die. We are not indispensable even though we might think we are and God can easily raise up others to take our place. I would encourage you today to stop everything and allow God to transform your life and ministry.

1CO 10:6 Now these things occurred as examples to keep us from setting our hearts on evil things as they did.

There were many Israelites in the original wilderness that had great potential to do mighty things in the promised land, but they died out there because they were not willing to change under God's directions. Some would not trust God fully, and others would not repent from their sin and rebellion, so they all died off one by one. We can all spiritually flounder in our wilderness and ministries when we refuse to make the changes that God is requiring of us.

1CO 3:11 For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.

You might feel at first that you are losing a beautiful building that you worked so hard to build, but God's fire has a way of burning up anything in our lives and ministries that did not originate from His inspiration. Plus we never get credit in heaven for works of the flesh here on earth, they are all just a foolish waste of time. This is your day to stand up mighty warrior and to take your place in this final harvest, holy, empowered, obedient, and fully set in order.

MT 24:44 So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.
