Poverty Preaching

There has been a growing trend mostly in the more pharisaical and religious crowd of denouncing anyone who advocates God blessing His people financially in any way. Although there has been some terrible abuses by greedy preachers swindling people in order to fill their pockets this does not mean that the basic principle of reciprocity is evil or unscriptural. This is just one of the things Jesus had to say about giving.

LK 6:38 Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."

Now motive is everything and we cannot of course treat God like some divine slot machine hoping to get some bigger return back for everything we give, but neither should we shun God giving us resources in order to help finance the great revival that's coming. We are also likely to face a global persecution after this harvest so we will need resources and refuges set up in order to survive outside of the world's system.

AC 4:34 There were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned lands or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales 35 and put it at the apostles' feet, and it was distributed to anyone as he had need.

God has led most of us through our own personal wilderness in order to break us of all greed and materialism so that He can place more into our hands in order to help the needy among us. Like Joseph many of us will bring God's provision and goodness to the masses in order to help them and lead them to salvation through Jesus Christ. It is easier to speak to a mans heart when you have filled his empty stomach first.

1TI 6:10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

There will always be greedy swindlers and people who have their focus on money instead of God, but there will also be others whom God has prepared to be refuges and storehouses during a time of great tribulation and persecution in order to provide and protect. It is alright to believe for what God has promised He would do through you and to receive what He wants to place into your hands in order to help those in need.

AC 11:27 During this time some prophets came down from Jerusalem to Antioch. 28 One of them, named Agabus, stood up and through the Spirit predicted that a severe famine would spread over the entire Roman world. (This happened during the reign of Claudius.) 29 The disciples, each according to his ability, decided to provide help for the brothers living in Judea. 30 This they did, sending their gift to the elders by Barnabas and Saul.
