Kill Any Egyptians Lately?

EX 2:11 One day, after Moses had grown up, he went out to where his own people were and watched them at their hard labor. He saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his own people. 12 Glancing this way and that and seeing no one, he killed the Egyptian and hid him in the sand.

Moses obviously felt a strong burden and calling to defend and minister to the Israelites that lived in bondage as slaves in Egypt. But his timing to start this ministry seemed to be a bit premature because he failed it at first by killing an Egyptian that was beating an Israelite, and then he had to flee for his life because Pharaoh found out about it and sought to kill him. Even the people that should have been thanking him for defending them turned against him.

EX 2:14 The man said, "Who made you ruler and judge over us? Are you thinking of killing me as you killed the Egyptian?" Then Moses was afraid and thought, "What I did must have become known."

For those of us who have not yet completed our wilderness time, we have felt a strong burden to go and do things for God, so we have knocked and pounded on certain ministry doors only to be responded to with rejection and no thanks every time. This can be very perplexing and discouraging if you do not understand what is going on, but also comforting to know that the burden you feel from God is very real, your timing may just be a little off.

EX 3:11 But Moses said to God, "Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?"

By the time your calling actually does come you may not even want to do the job like you used to, and like Moses you might want to just tell God to go find someone else. But God knew exactly what He was doing all these years while preparing you, and all of this time He has been working true humility, true holiness, and true obedience into your life. Your days of chasing ministry cease and you become happy to just do whatever God puts in front of you.

EX 4:13 But Moses said, "O Lord, please send someone else to do it."

When you are fully finished with your wilderness time then expect God to open up new doors and to send you out because the harvest field is truly ripe, but mature, holy workers are few. Relax and just do the work in front of you and try not to pound on anymore closed doors. Your time will come eventually where your ministry will seek you out, and in that day like Moses you must trust God to give you everything you need in order to accomplish it.

MT 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Rather than trying to find our place through someone else's ministry, we should continue to just focus on growing up and working out the problems that have limited us from being used by God in ministry. Plus it is highly likely that you will get your own ministry after your wilderness ends that will work along side with others. So rather than chasing ministry in the flesh like Moses did, allow God to make you truly ready, and ministry will then chase you.

1PE 5:6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. 7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
