Cutting Corners

MT 5:20 For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.

Because God is gracious and used me even in a time when I had sin habits in my life, I thought that maybe He would just overlook some of my shortcomings and let me out of my wilderness time early. Then one day while in prayer the Lord impressed upon me that unless I was willing to fully cooperate, repent, and let Him change and purify me completely, that I honestly wasn't going anywhere and I would stay stuck.

Once I realized that God was not going to let me cut any corners concerning my time of sanctification and that I would stay stuck there if I did not let Him change me, I got a lot more serious about working out my problems and sin habits. I knew after that, that I could die out in this wilderness if I kept procrastinating and the only one to blame for it would have been me. God will not do it all for us, we must do our part.

God knows that if he overlooks any area of sin or the flesh still left alive in our soul that it would be our downfall later on when we entered our promised land. So really by not fudging for us God is actually being merciful, not being mean, and He knows when you are truly ready to move on. So I would just encourage you today that whatever He has been after in your life, to get serious about it so that you can finally go forward.

JN 17:17 Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.
