The Fear of Man

The fear of man can be a real big thing when it comes to your wilderness or prophetic training. When you go into the wilderness, all hell breaks loose literally, and every unpleasant embarrassing thing that you don't want to happen, seems to happen. For a while, you may feel just like Job, seeing one thing after another, seemingly destroyed before your very eyes, while all your friends and family just look on wide eyed and shaking their heads in disbelief. If you have any fear of man in you, then you will feel mortified because your reputation takes such a beating during this time, and there is little or nothing you can do about it. Once you enter the wilderness, there is no way to go back to Egypt and to put your old life back together again.

If you are a prophet, the fear of man can also be a great stumbling block, because if you fear what people say, think, or do, because of a prophetic word you give them, then you may only say what you think they want to hear. Some people only want to hear good, positive messages, and will chaff and squawk if anything less than blessing comes out of your mouth. A true and mature prophet is full of God's love for people, so whatever they speak should have God's love and heart mixed in with it, even if it's corrective in nature. God's words will always speak the truth we need to hear, even though we may not want to hear it sometimes. Besides, even though most people may act shocked, many times, God has already tried to talk to them about their problem, but they either wouldn't listen to Him, or they didn’t like the answer that He gave them.

Either way, whether you are in the wilderness, and/or undergoing prophetic training, you will learn in time, that the only person’s opinion that really matters in life is God's, and those He speaks through to you. God is truth, and it will be His truth that judges us. There will always be someone who doesn't like or agree with something you say or do because we are all different, and we all have different preferences and opinions about things. Real promotion or punishment comes only from God's hand, and whatever reward you may get from man will not last anyway if God didn't give it to you through them. Though all others forsake you, and misunderstand you, and say all manner of evil against you, God is the only One whom you will stand before in your life’s judgment, and give an account to for your life's choices. Everything that happens to you must go through Him first, literally everything. We must learn to trust in God alone. God is the only one that we should fear. This is what God’s word has said about it:

LK 12:4 "I tell you, my friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more. 5 But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear him who, after the killing of the body, has power to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him. 6 Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. 7 Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

PR 29:25 Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the LORD is kept safe.

So let me encourage you today that if you are being rejected by your family, friends, or fellow Christians just because you are going through the reproaches of your wilderness transformation, then do not fear what people might say, think, or do. People have no real power over you anyway, they do not judge your life in the end, they cannot harm you beyond God's limitations, and they cannot reward you with anything beyond God's will that you can keep. Most of the time, all they can do is gossip, and this will only destroy your pride, which is a good thing anyway. Trust in God today to be your protector, provider, and promoter. He alone is worthy of our trust, praise, reverential respect, and awe.
