NU 14:1 That night all the people of the community raised their voices and wept aloud. 2 All the Israelites
grumbled against Moses and Aaron, and the whole assembly said to them, "If only we had died in Egypt! Or in this desert!
For some of us we cannot believe that the Israelites in the wilderness could be so negative and unbelieving,
but then after you have had a tough slavery like life yourself, and been in one of God's modern day wilderness experiences
yourself for a while, then you may start to grumble, complain, and cry about your situation just like they did. You may even
be saying to yourself, "Why did I ever let God do this to my life? I wished that I could go back and do things differently!".
You see, in our hearts we are not so different from the Israelites after all.
NU 14:11 The LORD said to Moses, "How long will these people treat me with contempt? How long will
they refuse to believe in me, in spite of all the miraculous signs I have performed among them?
When things seem their darkest and that God has ruined our life then we must think back on all the
miracles that God did to get us out of our worldly Egypt-like life, and then to lead us through our wilderness while living
by faith just like the Israelites did. We have a choice, we can either treat God with contempt and get Him mad at us by giving
in to self-pity and complaining, or we can look toward the promised land that awaits us if only we will grow up and repent
of all the sin that has been keeping us from going there. It's really all up to us.
NU 14:19 In accordance with your great love, forgive the sin of these people, just as you have pardoned
them from the time they left Egypt until now.
God knows we are suffering in our wilderness, but He also knows that unless we are truly ready on
the inside, that there is not point in pouring new life into the outside because we would just mess it all up if we are not
ready. Just know that God has been waiting on us to change and repent, it's not us waiting on Him even though it may seem
that way. Don't allow yourself to be found crying in your tent, and don't allow someone else's grumbling to poison your heart
with doubt. Trust God all the way and become fully obedient and you will make it.
1CO 10:10 And do not grumble, as some of them did--and were killed by the destroying angel.
11 These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the
fulfillment of the ages has come.
